1. SHOP FOR YOUR SHAPE
Whether straight, skinny or flared, pick a classic style that flatters your shape and stick to it. If you have heavy upper thighs, pick a pair of thigh-minimising boot-cut jeans that will elongate your legs and make you appear leaner. If you have a slender frame, skinny or straight-cut jeans will work best as they flatter your form and sculpt your curves.
2. MEASUREMENT IS KEY
To get the perfect fit, you’ll need to measure yourself honestly. Your waist can be measured by wrapping the tape around the slimmest part of your waistline. A waistband that is too snug is your worst enemy as it will cut into your skin, while a pair of jeans with a loose waistband will wrinkle around the crotch and the rear, giving you an unappealing, saggy appearance.
3. CHOOSE THE RIGHT RISE
Low-rise, mid-rise or high-rise, be sure to pick one that follows your natural contours. Low-rise jeans will make your hips appear wider while high-rise jeans will de-emphasise your problem areas and help you look leaner. Mid-rise jeans are universally flattering and hence, are suitable for all body shapes.
4. CARE TO EXPERIMENT
Dark denims are great day-to-night transitional pieces, while denims with lighter washes are a wearable alternative to classic indigo. You can even try out a pair of ’80s inspired acid-wash jeans.
5. DENIM MAINTENANCE
Taking good care of your jeans will help you carry them on from season to season. Only wash your jeans when absolutely necessary to help retain the elasticity of your denims. Wash jeans inside-out to help reduce fading and avoid tumble-drying
